Community Pride Grants Announced
Wednesday, July 01, 2009

The Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation’s Board of Directors has approved $1,747 in matching funds for 3 different community groups through its 2009 Community Pride Program. The Community Pride Program is a biennial program that awards grants to non-profits seeking funds for projects that will promote a sense of community pride, involve volunteerism from the community and provide a match to the award. Many times the match will be in volunteer hours in the form of donated labor, but in other cases the match will be in donated materials or monetary donations.

These grants are funded solely from the income of the NCCF’s Unrestricted Funds. Community groups are welcome to submit a proposal to the NCCF every other March to be considered for funding. The next proposal deadline for the Community Pride Program is March 1, 2011.

The NCCF’s volunteer Grants Committee members include Rosemary Banach, Jack D’Agostino, Rose Ann Falcone, Pete Holt, Kathy Kaus, Priscilla Koch, Carmen Llera, Kristine Morabito, Debbie Pacos, Jerry Rocque, Carter Rowland, Monica White and Mike Williams. Rose Ann Falcone serves as chairman of the committee and Kurt Maytum is the NCCF President.

Groups that have been approved by the NCCF Board of Directors for funding are as follows:

  • Dunkirk Historical Lighthouse
  • Dunkirk High School Earth Science Club
  • City of Dunkirk Festivals Committee
