Celebrating Philanthropy & Community Foundation Week
Thursday, November 19, 2009

Board member Priscilla Koch thanks Dave Rowley for WDOE's ongoing support of the NCCF.

Last week, board and staff members of the Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation (NCCF) celebrated “Philanthropy and Community Foundation Week” by thanking the community and those who share the “Give Where You Live” philosophy.

Wanting to pay tribute to the community’s senior citizens, the NCCF staff delivered cookies and balloons to the Fredonia Grape Belt Seniors, the Dunkirk Senior Luncheon Program and the Herbert Star Senior Site.  An overview of community foundations, including “10 Reasons to Give through Community Foundations” was provided. In addition, NCCF staff and board member Priscilla Koch visited local professional advisors and attorneys thanking them for their promotion of local philanthropy. Each board member made a number of phone calls to donors who support Community Benefit Grantmaking to thank them for their support. According to Diane Hannum, Executive Director: “It would have been impossible to thank everyone who is a part of the NCCF, we really just touched the surface. NCCF is grateful to all those individuals who share our mission of making northern Chautauqua a better place to live and work.”

Community foundations are one of the fastest-growing forms of philanthropy. Every year, tens of thousand of people across the United States give to their community through their community foundation. The NCCF is knowledgeable about the needs of the northern Chautauqua community and can direct resources to address these needs. Working with the NCCF, people can easily “Give Where They Live” and see firsthand the results of their giving.

The Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation was incorporated in 1986 as a tax-exempt charitable organization. Since its establishment, the NCCF has distributed over $7.3 million into the community through its various grant programs. It is an organization inherently committed to furthering its mission of enriching the northern Chautauqua community and encouraging local philanthropy. For more information, visit their web site at www.nccfoundation.org or call 716-366-4892.
